How do I become a member of the Arran Access Trust?

The Arran Access Trust hopes to attract a wide membership on Arran and from regular visitors.

Membership is open to private individuals, voluntary organisations, businesses or public agencies. Organisations, businesses or agencies may send a representative to general meetings.

There are three categories of membership which represent the main interest groups. Members will elect a Board of eight Directors who will run the Trust.

The categories of membership are:

  1. Community and users

Anyone who accesses land on Arran for recreation or field study.

Anyone who, as a full-time resident on Arran, depends for his/her livelihood on people having access to land on Arran.

Members in this category will appoint three Directors to represent their interests.

  2. Access providers

Anyone (or any organisation) who owns, tenants or manages land on which there is regular public access (not private gardens).

Members in this category will appoint three Directors ro represent their interests.

  3. Public Sector

Any public organisation whose remit includes an interest in access.

Scottish Natural Heritage and North Ayrshire Council will each nominate one Director.
